Hello dear reader! I am Stefan Hechenberger and you may know me as ==noema== or ==stefanix== in various forums and internet spaces.
This website exists because I like to share things I am working on. I picked up this habit from people I admire and found it to be a horn of plenty for interesting situations. Many things I do are niche and obscure, and I wouldn't readily run into others with similar interests otherwise.
Some of these things are no longer obscure. I used to be one of a handful of people building and developing natural touchscreen interfaces. This technology went through a hype cycle, with many Fortune 500 companies requesting prototype devices and my company happily supplying them. A couple years later, everyone began carrying multitouch devices in their pocket in the form of Androids and iPhones.
I moved on to other non-standard preoccupations. Many of my thoughts go into building distributed systems. For work, I am applying these to situations that have traditionally called for centralization. The basic guiding principle: nature is distributed and relies on feedback loops. Better feedback loops create better systems. Distributed systems allow for better feedback. In short: **Be like water.**
I am also on a deep dive into aviation and human flight. I started by reading some books but wanted to understand this on a deeper level. I acquired a commercial pilot's license, flew an aerobatics glider in competitions, went through training to do basic flight testing, and began building a small airplane. I'm posting about some of this [[XHawk Build Log|here]].
